Course Objectives

Students will learn how to discuss and write about works of art as a form of training in preparation for planning and carrying out guided tours and workshops. They will also focus on how to write about separate works of art, exhibitions, as well as compose texts such as, art catalogue forewords, invitations, orientations to teachers, press releases and programme texts. They will also gain experience with how to give a lecture on contemporary art and art theory in connection with an exhibition.

Course Description

The main content of this course is art pedagogy and dissemination theory in connection with oral and written presentations. Guided tours as a pedagogical method. Art criticism and dissemination criticism will be discussed in the workshops by carrying out constructive criticism of exhibitions and galleries, aided by commentaries from art critics.

Learning Methods

The course will consist of 3 work-shops lectures, seminars and study trips, as well as, planning and organization of guided tours.

Assessment Methods

Students will be required to submit three take-home assignments, which will be graded according to the pass/fail grading system. Students must achieve passing grades on all 3 assignments in order to earn a passing grade for the course.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
