Nature Guiding and Tourism II 4214
Course Objectives
The aim of the course is that students will gain a practical understanding of natural environments in Norway and abroad, and realise how these may be used as an arena for a variety of experiences. It is expected that students with various educational backgrounds will be able to use their academic backgrounds in team project efforts.
Course Description
The course will build further on the theory that was studied in Nature Guiding and Tourism I, and will therefore be a continuation of the preceding course. The course will emphasise the practical application of theoretical knowledge and marketing with regard to practical solutions in using the wilderness. Dissemination and teamwork are stressed and are an important aspect of preparations for the excursion.
Learning Methods
The course consists of a project element and an excursion element.
The project work takes place prior to the excursion, and is carried out as a team effort involving students with differing academic backgrounds. The theme of the project work depends upon the destination of the excursion.
The excursion will be of 10-15 days duration during the summer months, usually in June, but this may vary depending on the destination of the excursion. All parts of the course are obligatory, and students must expect to pay part of the expenses.
Assessment Methods
Submission of the project report from the excursion.
Pass/fail.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
