Course Objectives
This course covers the whole field of cultural administration but focuses especially on the context of cultural administration at municipal and national levels. It will examine in particular questions related to public administration and society. How is postmodern society influenced by public administration (power relations, influences, positions, ways of understanding etc), and how do political, social and cultural factors affect the organisation and working methods within public administration?
Course Description
Public administration and cultural administration; working methods, organisation, professionalisation and professional interests, power and influence, legal framework and protection of the law, commercialisation and sponsoring, marketing, internationalisation and globalisation.
Learning Methods
Lectures and seminars (one semester), course assignments.
Assessment Methods
Obligatory assignment which counts for 40 % of the final grade. 5-hour written final examination which counts for 60 % of the final grade. Graded marks. Both the home assignment and the final examination must achieve passing marks in order to receive a passing mark for the course.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
