Course Objectives

The student will:

Apply the information found in the nursing profession’s various knowledge bases, and good personal skills and attitudes to nursing in general and in relation to individual patients in particular.

Integrate knowledge and approaches from the social sciences in the practice of nursing in general, and in relation to the individual patient in particular.

Analyse contexts and evaluate their influence on patients’ state of health.

Recognise the nurse’s responsibility for, and the complexity of, cooperation with individual patients and groups of patients.

Develop attitudes which maintain the integrity of the individual.

8 weeks supervised clinical studies.

Course unit 15C: Clinical Studies in Mental Health Work

8 weeks supervised clinical studies.

Course unit 15D: Clinical Studies in Nursing Homes

4 weeks clinical studies.

Course unit 15E: Elective Clinical Studies

4 weeks elective clinical studies.

May be combined with exchange studies.

Learning Methods

Classroom teaching, group work and exercises in simulated situations in the practice department. Clinical studies in the home-based services (12 weeks), nursing home (4 weeks), mental health work (8 weeks), and 4 weeks with elective focus. Aims, reflection notes and course assignments.

Eight weeks supervised clinical studies.

Four weeks of clinical studies with a focus on research-based nursing practice in relation to the elderly.

Assessed on a pass/fail basis (6 ECTS).

Eight weeks of supervised clinical studies.

Assessed on a pass/fail basis (12 ECTS).

Four weeks of clinical studies abroad with elective focus related to the Bachelor's thesis.
