Course Objectives

The students will receive a basic introduction to information security. The course will provide insight into the technical and non-technical aspects of this topic. Students will gain both theoretical and practical experience with respect to security questions and information protection.

Course Description

A general introduction to basic technical and non-technical components in information security. Computer security, information security, network security, system security and user security. Security strategies, security levels, reliability and system monitoring. Design and implementation of security mechanisms. Authentification, identification and access control. Political and legal framework.

Learning Methods

6-8 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week during the spring semester. Important - Lectures can be taught in English

Assessment Methods

Mid-term assessment in the form of obligatory assignments or mid-term examen which must be approved before students will be permitted to sit the individual, written 5-hour final examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
