Course Objectives
MODULE 3
Illness and Disability, 12 ECTS
Focus and aim
The focus in this module is illness and the various types of disability that are common among the elderly.
The aim is to provide students with knowledge that will strengthen their ability to assess the complexity of the health problems of elderly patients, and be able to take actions that will promote the health and quality of life of elderly patients, and also take into consideration the family of the elderly person.
MODULE 4
Culture and Quality of Life 6 ECTS
Focus and aim
The focus of this module is on cultural activities in working with the sick and needy elderly. The intention is that students will become aware of the culture’s ability to promote health and activate the elderly. Students’ skills for implementing measures that contribute to meaning, coping and quality of life will also be focused on.

Assessment Methods

Modules 3 -4: Illness, Functional Disability, and Coping in the Elderly – 18 ECTS
During the spring semester of the first year of study, students will work in learning groups on a self-chosen theme related to the content of modules 3 and 4. The assignment should comprise 6000 words, and it will be assessed on a pass/fail basis.
