Course Objectives

After completing the course the students will have been introduced to the different theoretical concepts within community, population, behavioural and plant ecology. This theoretical background is essential in order to understand the theoretical basis for e.g. wildlife management and conservation biology. Students should also be able to understand the relationship between plant distribution and environmental conditions, and how plants and vegetation can be used as environmental indicators.

• Interactions between plants and environmental factors
• Distribution of Norwegian plants
• Vegetation zones and vegetation sections of Norway
• Plants as environmental indicators

Assessment Methods

Grades will be assigned for two examinations: examination 1 (3 hours) and examination 2 (3 hours) counts for 50% and 50% of the final grade, respectively. Both exams must receive passing grades before a final grade is given for the course.
