Course Objectives

The students will, through the theoretical syllabus and project work, become familiar with how Internet is structured, how it functions and its potential uses. Students will also acquire skills in planning and developing websites.

Course Description

The structure and functioning of Internet and the Web. Web protocols (HTTP), HTML, CSS and other document standards that are relevant to the Web. Development of static and dynamic websites with client side and server side processing (style rules and scripting languages). The use and customisation of content management software. Rich content on the Web. Site planning. Information architecture. Students will complete a project in small groups.

Learning Methods

6 hours of lectures, exercises and supervision per week in the spring semester.

Assessment Methods

Group evaluation of the project. Students will be required to present their project at scheduled intervals. An individual, written examination, 4 hours. The project assignment counts for 40% and the final examination counts for 60% of the final course grade.
