Course Description
The course will especially emphasise:
- Media in the modern world
- The Norwegian media order
- The power of the internet
- Tabloid processes in sports and outdoor life
- Gender-related media rituals
- Identity creation
Sport and outdoor event journalism plays an important role in mediating and presenting sports and outdoor life activities. They portray the mystical and sexual stereotypes of elite sport and celebrities, as well as local and national identities in the global arena. Emphasis will be placed on relating the production of materials for the media to theoretical perspectives within the fields listed above.
Assessment Methods
A trial lecture of around 30 minutes on a specified topic and an approved manuscript. Graded marks. The course requires a minimum of 75% attendance.
