Course Description
Forces, moment, equilibrium, force vectors with diagrams. Beams, frames, complex structures, bearing constructions, ropes and blocks. Tensions and deformations, Hook’s law, normal tension distribution, shear forces distribution. Combined forces and stress matrix. Introduction to torsion and buckling. Hydrostatics and hydrodynamics in real fluids.
Assessment Methods
The course assessment will be based on 2 course component examinations during the semester, which count for 40% and a final examination which counts for 60% of the final grade.
At least 75% of the practical assignments and laboratory works must be satisfactorily completed and approved before the student may sit the final examination.
The final examination must receive a passing mark.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
