Learning outcome

After completing the course the candidate:

- Has knowledge of important scientific approaches

- Can critically reflect on the importance of scientific approaches for the development of knowledge in the field of caring for the elderly

- Has thorough knowledge of scientific paradigms and their significance for research processes

- Understands the difference between qualitative and quantitative methods

- Can problematize the relationship between theory and empirical research

- Has knowledge of methodology for knowledge and quality development practices

Assessment Methods

In order to sit the examination students must fulfil the following requirements:

987-E2 ST1 Group assignment with oral presentation; presented at a seminar: see description posted on Fronter; pass/fail.

Examination:

987-E2 ST2 Scientific Methods and Knowledge.

Six-hour final written examination; assessed with a grade.
