Learning outcome

Through this course students gain basic competence in the development and management of logistics systems. These include:

  • knowledge of basic tools based on systems theory
  • knowledge of the common assessment criteria for analyzing logistics system
  • skill in the preparation of flowcharts for logistics system
  • skill in evaluating the systems in relation to the most common assessment criteria
  • skill in analyzing various logistics system
  • ability to implement simpler logistics projects
  • ability to communicate with various groups within the logistics industry and thereby contribute to creative solutions to logistic problems

Course Description

  • Structure of the logistics system
  • Basic systems theory
  • The main concepts are logistically quality, delivery, service and analysis of costs
  • Distribution aspect of the logistics system will be discussed separately
  • Logistics as an instrument in competition with other businesses - strategic perspective
  • Green Logistics

Assessment Methods

Obligatory group assignment and a written individual final examination, 3 hours. The group assignment counts for 40% of the final grade. The groups should normally consist of 2-3 students, but it is also possible for individual students to submit assignments if this has been approved. The final examination counts for 60% of the final grade. All the parts of the assessment must receive passing marks.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
