Course Description

Students will be given instruction in relation to their work on assignments.

Students are responsible for finding work experience placements (4 weeks); they will complete a work training report (on a specific form) and complete a specialized assignment or Bachelor’s thesis on a topic taken from the syllabuses of Practical Real Estate Brokerage I, II or III.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Some lectures will be related to topics in relation to the students’ assignments.

Students may choose one of two alternatives: 1) work experience placements (4 weeks) (they are responsible for finding their own placements that must be approved by the college), where they will write a specialization assignment on an approved topic; or 2) writing a Bachelor’s thesis on a topic taken from the syllabuses of Practical Real Estate Brokerage I, II or III.

Assessment Methods

Students may choose between the two following alternatives:

1. Work experience placement with a real estate broker for 4 weeks, which should involve varied tasks, so that the student is involved in as many of the business’s operations as possible. Students will, in addition to the work placement, submit a brief description on a specific form concerning what activities they have been involved in. In addition, they will complete a specialization assignment on a topic (approved by the teacher) and submit this; further details will be provided.

2. Alternatively, the student may write a Bachelor’s thesis on a topic taken from the syllabuses of Practical Real Estate Brokerage I, II or III. The topic for the Bachelor’s thesis must be approved by the instructor. For both options, students will be given an oral examination after submitting the specialization assignment or thesis.

Completed training in 4 weeks, work experience reports and submitted specialization assignment (on the basis of further specific criteria); or a thesis; constitute the basis for the evaluation. A prerequisite to taking the oral examination is that the relevant written work has been submitted. The assessment of the thesis will be published no later than the oral grade. If the student achieves a fail in part of the assessment, then he/she will not be given a final passing grade. If he/she passes part of the assessment then this will be taken into account in the event of a re-sit examination.

The specialization assignment/Bachelor’s thesis counts for 60 % of the final grade and the final oral examination counts for 40%. In the oral examination, the student may also be assessed in relation to the syllabuses of the courses Practical Real Estate Brokerage I, II or III. Students who have submitted a thesis may also be assessed in relation to it.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
