Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
Knowledge
The candidate has knowledge of / can:
- Target groups in nursing homes
- How complex illness conditions and old age affect elderly people’s ability to cope and their capacity to fulfil their basic needs
- Update their knowledge in the field and in relation to relevant target groups in nursing homes
Skills
The candidate can:
- Integrate knowledge from the natural sciences and social sciences in nursing practice
- Reflect on the relationships between human health, illness, living conditions, culture and society
- Identify changes in health conditions and take appropriate measures
- Use communication skills in interacting with elderly people and people with dementia and their families
- Take care of patients and their families in a way that strengthens their ability to cope
- Take responsibility for supervising and delegating work for a group of colleagues/students
- Carry out a planned teaching session
- Master the correct nursing documentation for patients in nursing homes
- Work using evidence-based practice
General competence
The candidate can / has:
- Assess views and clarify nursing knowledge in professional, interdisciplinary and inter-departmental cooperation
- Assess views and experiences with others concerning the organization, frameworks, legislation and health policy priorities affecting nursing practice in nursing homes
- Assess their own learning needs and continually seek and receive guidance
- Gain insight into innovation and innovation processes within nursing and in relation to relevant target groups in nursing homes

Clinical studies in a nursing home with a focus on the integration of knowledge, skills and attitudes related to:

Clinical studies in a nursing home; demonstration - practice - guidance - reflection.
Assessment Methods
Clinical studies, 4 weeks in the municipal health services - nursing home - graded pass/fail.
