The candidate can:

  • Explain the human body’s anatomical structure, development and functions
  • Explain how organs and organ systems function and interact
  • Explain the importance of food and nutrients in relation to health and the development of disease
  • Explain the spread of infection and its influence on the organism
  • Explain the sources of infection, means of infection, the spread of infection and measures against infection
  • Document medication calculation free of errors

  • Basic chemistry, physics and biochemical processes
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • General and preventative nutrition
  • Infection prevention: microbiology and hygiene
  • Medication calculations

Teaching and Learning Methods

Subject literature studies, digital learning resources, resource lectures, seminars and work in learning groups.

Assessment Methods

Written individual examination exam under supervision in Anatomy and Physiology - 4 hours. Assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Written individual examination exam under supervision in Microbiology – 1 hour. Assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Written individual examination exam under supervision in Hygiene - 1 hour. Assessed on a pass/fail basis.

Written individual examination exam under supervision in Medication Calculation - 2 hours. Assessed on a pass/fail basis.
