Course Objectives

Students will:

Gain knowledge of chemical engineering unit operations, manufacturing engineering practices and principles, and mechanics of materials.

Course Description

Chemical engineering unit operations, flowsheets. Process equipment and characteristic features. Mass and energy flow processes. Flow techniques. Basis for the regulation of chemical engineering and mechanical processes, causes and results, localisation of disturbances, gate opening and measurement possibilities.

Production forms and lines. Basis for mechanisation. Welding errors and detection of welding flaws. General mechanics of materials, corrosion, types of fractures and certification of materials.

Learning Methods

Lectures, laboratory assignments and exercises.

Assessment Methods

30% continuous assessment, 70% written final examination.

Continuous assessment will include obligatory exercises and laboratory assignments.
