Course Objectives

The course will provide an overview of the management and use of geographical information systems (GIS)

Course Description

The course examines the development of GIS in Norway, shows how GIS can be used in an organisation; databases; the use of GIS in municipalities and counties, how tasks and problems are solved and what resources and infrastructure are needed if GIS is to function properly.

Learning Methods

2-4 hours of lectures/exercises per week in the spring semester. Obligatory field trips.

Assessment Methods

Group project work (with 4-5 students per group) must be submitted at the end of the semester.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
