Ibsen and the Modern Breakthrough 2108
Course Objectives
Students will acquire an insight into some of the principal works and texts in various genres from ’the modern breakthrough’ in literature during the nineteenth century, first and foremost Ibsen, but also Garborg, Skram and Kielland.
Course Description
The modern breakthrough in the nineteenth century.
Learning Methods
Autumn semester, 2 hours of lectures per week for 15 weeks.
The course is a part of BA Literature and Language, specialisation in Norwegian.
Assessment Methods
Individual home assignment (roughly 4000 words) which counts for 40 %, and a 5-hour final examination which counts for 60 %. Students must receive passing marks in both the home assignment and the final examination in order to gain a passing mark for the course.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
