Course Objectives
MODULE 1
Ageing and the Factors that Affect the Living Conditions of the Elderly - 7 ECTS
Focus and aim
This module focuses on different perspectives on ageing and the elderly; the various factors related to being old; and elderly people’s own experiences of being old. The aim is for students to acquire knowledge that will strengthen their ability to understand and work with the elderly.
MODULE 2
Ethics and Law in the Care of the Elderly - 5 ECTS
Focus and aim
This module’s focus is the role and importance of ethics and the law regarding working with the elderly. The intention is that students will acquire greater insight into the challenges they will face in caring for the needy and the frail elderly, and increase their expertise in assessing and acting in a manner that protects the rights and dignity of the elderly.

Modules 1- 2: Ageing and the Living Conditions of the Elderly - 12 ECTS
In the autumn semester of the first year of study, students will complete an individual semester assignment related to the content of modules 1 and 2. The assignment will comprise 3000 words, and be assessed and graded.
