Norwegian Semester Assignment for Foreign Students 2203
Course Objectives
Students will gain experience in studying a topic in depth, drawn from their future field of specialisation. Writing the paper will develop their overall mastery of the language and provide an introduction to the terminology of their chosen field. Students will become familiar with the norms which apply to written assignments in general.
Course Description
The semester assignment must be related to the student’s future field of study. Students will seek and read relevant literature and use it as background for their papers. The subject material should be in easily comprehensible Norwegian.
Learning Methods
During the second semester, the students will write a semester assignment with a deadline of 3 weeks. The students, in association with the teachers, will select a task within their future field of specialisation. While working on this project, the students will receive obligatory technical and practical guidance, both individually and in groups. The paper should be roughly 10 type-written A4 pages in length.
Assessment Methods
The semester assignment will count for 25% of the total grade in the one-year programme. A grading scale from A to F will be used in evaluating the examinations, where A is the highest possible grade and E is the lowest passing grade. Students will be assigned a collective grade for the completed one-year programme, and all four segments must receive passing grades.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
