Course Objectives

Students will:

  • Acquire the necessary knowledge in mathematics to begin engineering or maritime studies.
  • Develop skills in basic topics in mathematics and training in mathematical thinking.
  • In a reflective and reasoned way use their knowledge and skills in the execution of various tasks, both independently and in groups.

Exponential and logarithm functions

Integration and differential equations

Probability theory

Learning Methods

5 lectures and 5 hours exercises per week. Obligatory submissions of completed exercises.

Assessment Methods

Continuous assessment:
5 tests during the year count roughly 50% of the final grade. Tests: 90-120 minutes duration.
Submission assignments count for roughly 10% of the final grade.
Final examination:
5-our final examination counts 40% of the final course grade.
The examination paper is provided centrally.
The tests and examination are obligatory.
In order to achieve a passing grade for the course at least 4 of the tests taken during the course of the year must receive passing marks, or the final examination must receive a passing mark.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
