Investment and Finance 6008
Course Objectives
The course provides students with a basic understanding of both qualitative and quantitative problems in the field of business investment and financing. Students will also become acquainted with the subject’s basic principles, and the methods and assessments employed.
Course Description
The following topics will be covered:
- Basic principles of investment and finance
- Calculation of decision-relevant cash flow, including the impact of working capital
- Correct value assessment methods
- Rate of interest calculations/financial mathematics
- Investment analysis, economic life time, depreciation analysis
- Tax and price rises – effect on cash flows
- Risk assessment, portfolio theory and capital value model
- Sources of finance
Learning Methods
3-4 hours of lectures per week during the autumn semester.
Assessment Methods
Written examination, 4 hours.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
