Course Objectives

The course will provide students with competence concerning how information technology (IT) may contribute to increased efficiency and value-creation in organisations. The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to the planning, organisation and management of IT activities.

Course Description

The strategic use of information technology in organisations, and the development and implementation of IT strategies and IT plans. Administration, planning, upgrading and replacement of various IT systems. Management of development and readjustment processes. Effective interaction between technology, people and organisations, system development and organisation development. Information technology and legal aspects, agreements and norms in the field of information technology. Information management and the role of various information systems in relation to information management in organisations. Information-resource management, quality assurance and protection of privacy.

Learning Methods

3-4 hours of lectures per week in the spring semester.

Assessment Methods

Obligatory assignments submitted during the course must be approved before the student will be permitted to sit the final 4-hour written examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
