Course Objectives

The students will acquire an understanding of technology, tools and languages used in the development of interactive, database driven web applications, and acquire familiarity with the development of such applications.

Course Description

System architecture for database driven web applications. Database systems, programming languages, scripting languages and document standards. Dynamic web content. Class libraries for database programming. Interactive web applications (AJAX). The Document Object Model (DOM). Programming in the database server, using stored procedures, cursors and triggers. N-tiered architecture and application servers. Object relational mappings. Semi-structured databases and XML.

Learning Methods

5 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week in the spring semester.

Assessment Methods

A 4-hour written, individual examination. A number of obligatory assignments submitted during the course must be approved before the student will be permitted to sit the final examination.
