Course Objectives
The students should be able to:
- Explain current requirements and norms in Norwegian Standards for construction diagrams
- Recognise the difference between the basic objects in AutoCAD and explain their characteristics
- Plan and execute a drafting project
- Combine drafting techniques
- Make adaptations in AutoCAD for the presentation of diagrams in keeping with Norwegian Standards
- Recognise various industrial standards and follow the requirements and norms required by them
- Show respect for the others in the field, and demonstrate the ability to cooperate on projects
Course Description
The course will provide students with thorough knowledge and technical skills in 2D construction drawings using AutoCAD. Students will produce technical building diagrams in keeping with Norwegian Standards. Topics addressed in this part of the course include AutoCAD’s coordinate system, basic drafting, precision tools, editing, object properties such as, colours, layers, line types, plot styles and line weights, plotting, layouts, texts, dimensioning, cross-hatching and blocks.
Learning Methods
Lectures and practical computer assignments.
ICT will be used extensively and students will gain practice using various programs in their laptops. The students will use a computer in the examination.
Assessment Methods
The course will be concluded with a final examination in the middle of the semester which counts 100%.
The students will complete a compulsory, individual assignment, which must achieve a passing mark in order to be awarded a passing mark for the course.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
