Outdoor Life, Culture and Society 1312
Course Description
The course will focus especially on:
- Human use of nature – a single phenomenon or several different phenomena?
- Development of outdoor life, change and stability – modern trends and traditions
- Participation and change: Intended or unintended consequences of social processes
- Construction of meaning: Identity, gender and culture
- Understanding nature: Cultural systems of meaning and understanding and individual understanding
- Experiencing nature: Experience, interpretation and understanding
- Outdoor life’s pedagogical opportunities and challenges
Assessment Methods
Students shall carry out an examination lecture of approximately 30 minutes duration on an assigned topic and submitted manuscript. The manuscript must demonstrate the student’s ability to work independently, and be produced by the student. Graded mark. 75% obligatory attendance required.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
