Learning outcome

Students will gain insight into effective communication in an international environment, by increasing their competence and knowledge of written and verbal communication. Further, they will be able to express opinions and discuss ethical issues with regard to mandatory readings. They will become more familiar with social and cultural conditions in English-speaking countries. Students will be able to perform business presentations and develop professional business documents. They will apply knowledge of international communication through an e-mail project with students in Belgium.

  • Business documents: letters, email, reports, news releases, CV
  • Listening + questioning techniques
  • Presenting techniques

Assessment Methods

Autumn semester: 4 mandatory, written, graded assignments: 10%. Oral examination with individual presentation and discussion of the syllabus: 40%. The mark for the autumn semester will count for 50% of the final grade.

Spring semester: 4 to 6 mandatory, written, graded assignments: 10%. Final written examination: 3 hours: 40%. The mark for the spring semester will count for 50% of the final grade. Students must achieve passing marks in all parts of the assessment to pass the course.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
