Learning outcome

After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.

Knowledge

The candidate:

  • Has knowledge of oral and written communication
  • Has knowledge of the digitization of society and digital culture
  • Is familiar with the use of visual aids
  • Is familiar with communication in different media
  • Is familiar with rhetorical devices
  • Has knowledge of communication theory

Skills

The candidate:

  • Has skills in publishing in various media formats
  • Can prepare written and oral presentations in various genres
  • Can use appropriate body language and voice in oral presentations
  • Has an understanding of various forms and aspects of communication

General competence

The candidate can:

  • Communicate messages in appropriate ways
  • Use different communication strategies adapted to different media and different audiences

Course Description

This course examines communication in different media and platforms, from oral presentations to written media. The text-based element of the course ranges from the writing of press releases, feature articles, and interviews to strategies for the use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Blogger. While the course is primarily practical, it also includes the study of communications theory and rhetoric.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Lectures, written exercises, student assignments that involve the development of students own communication projects, and performances of their own material.

Assessment Methods

Students will choose a written assignment that must be approved by the course teacher. The project will be presented orally to the group. Grade: pass / fail. In order to receive a passing grade for the course a minimum attendance of 80 % is required.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
