Course Description

  • Stoichiometry, gases and chemical equilibria
  • Atomic structure, chemical bonds and intermolecular forces
  • Lewis-notation and VSEPR-theory
  • Acids and bases, buffer solutions, titrations and solubility
  • Thermochemistry
  • Electrochemistry
  • Phase diagrams, solutions and colligative properties
  • Reactions rate
  • A laboratory course that contains exercises of general chemical types and analysis of substances from nature and daily life.

Assessment Methods

In the laboratory course the students shall write reports from the practical exercises. These reports must be approved before the last exam.

The exam consists of: written exam, 4 hours (50%) and written exam, 4 hours (50%). The marks are given from A to F.

The laboratory exercises are obligatory for the students.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
