Learning outcome

Knowledge

  • Be able to explain the organization of executive security authority and legislations concerning electrical safety
  • Be able to identify and detect unacceptable risk, take steps to improve and be able to carry out continuous assessment of risk.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of electricity Supervision ( el-tilsynsloven) , IK, FSE, FEL, FEF, FEU, FEK and AML

Skills

  • Know how to use laws, regulations, guidelines and norms for planning and implementing a project focusing on electrical safety
  • Know how to prepare the necessary security fundament to commence and finalize a simple electrical system.
  • Know how to make safety choices and justify it.
  • Keep safety in mind when working with electricity.

General competence

  • Be able to collaborate with other students in carrying out a project in electrical systems.
  • Be able to develop a solution and security oriented progress of a project in general.
  • Be able to describe the work that are done through report and oral presentation.

Course Description

  • Organisation and structure of the Norwegian exercise of authority concerning Electrical Safety
  • Laws, regulations and norms concerning Electrical Safety and internal control
  • Roles between authorities, installer and owner
  • Exercise of safety in electrical systems and installations
  • Assessment of how embodiment of the installation, through good risk management and good communication, can be carried out; according to laws, regulations and norms

Teaching and Learning Methods

The learning outcomes will be ensured through a combination of lectures, guest lectures, exercises and project work.

Assessment Methods

Participation in meetings regarding project work.

Work requirements: Oral presentation and review of project report.

Continuous assessment:

Project report in group work (30%)

Written individual examination (70%)

Both continuous assessments must be passed and the mandatory work requirement must be approved in order to receive a final grade for the course.

There will be given an individual grade A-F.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
