Learning outcome

After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.

Knowledge

The candidate:

  • Has basic knowledge of key topics and issues in project management related to management, planning, organisation, implementation, monitoring and completion of a project
  • Has knowledge of basic concepts in the field
  • Is able to keep abreast of current knowledge in the field

Skills

The candidate is able to:

  • Formulate objectives and goals for a project
  • Plan a project with the help of a milestone plan
  • Organise a project using a responsibilities diagram; distribution of roles, responsibilities and authority
  • Write an articulate text about a project

Competence

The candidate:

  • Is able to communicate about topics with others in the field
  • Can contribute to the development of good practices in the field through the exchange of views and experiences
  • Has a thoughtful approach to the complexity of a project

Course Description

  • Project concept, characteristics, pitfalls; day-to-day project work
  • The project’s objectives and framework
  • The project’s fundamental foundation
  • Project planning, milestone planning
  • Project organisation, actors, roles and responsibilities, a project organisation’s behaviour, responsibility diagram
  • Project execution and monitoring; project management at various levels
  • Project conclusion, documentation
  • Project management methods

Teaching and Learning Methods

3-4 hours lectures, exercises and supervision per week.

Assessment Methods

  • Written examination, 4 hours, graded mark
  • Work requirements, mandatory assignments submitted during the course must be approved in order for the student to take the written examination

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
