5211 Personnel Management and Organisation Development
Course Objectives
The course will provide students with an overview and introduction to the concepts, practical examples and models for personnel management and administration in the public and private sectors. It will also provide an overview over and introduction to concepts, practical examples and models which may provide students with knowledge of how organisational changes may be carried out, as well as providing students with the ability to analyse such changes.
Course Description
Personnel management and strategy, personnel policies and planning, hiring personnel, personnel development and career planning, development of the working environment, various models for organisational development (OD), the system theoretical approach as a starting point for the theory on worker’s collective, various perspectives for the mapping of the current situation in relation to a desired situation in a business, development in a selection of businesses seen in the light of various OD models, and knowledge concerning worker collectives.
Learning Methods
6 hours of lectures per week in the spring semester.
Assessment Methods
Obligatory submission of group assignment/portfolio which counts for 40%. A written final examination, 4 hours, which counts for 60%. Students must receive passing marks on all parts of the assessment.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
