Course Objectives

Students will gain knowledge of planning and management in the cultural sector. They will develop a basic, analytical understanding of the history of modern planning. The course also focuses on how different types of planning and project management attempt to realise goals and values. Students will develop knowledge and ability concerning how planning processes and projects may be organised and managed. The students will learn to analyse the organisational contexts in which they will operate. They will also be required to make rational methodological decisions on the basis of the analysis, and then be able to critically evaluate the process afterwards.

Learning Methods

Lectures, group assignments, discussions and presentations.

Assessment Methods

Individual, written midterm which counts for 40% of the final grade; Individual written paper which counts for 40% and an oral presentation of the paper which counts for 20% of the final grade. The student must receive passing marks on all parts of the assessment in order to receive a final passing grade for the course.
