Course Objectives

To gain insight into how overloads affect high-voltage installations and acquire an understanding of the components of high-voltage plants.

Course Description

Lightning overloads and their transmission in electrical networks, circuit overvoltage and temporary overvoltage. High-voltage components such as cables, fuses, switches and the surge diverters will be discussed. Discharging mechanisms.

Learning Methods

Lectures, calculation exercises, laboratory assignments and excursions.

Assessment Methods

Written individual tests with and without supervision (20%), completed laboratory exercises (20%) and written final examination (60%).

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
