Course Objectives

This course aims to provide students with the ability to give an account of relevant laws in connection with administrative procedures. Furthermore, this course will provide students with the skills to execute and apply legal procedures in specific cases. The course will train students to set up a budget for various types of projects, formulate examples of sponsorship agreements and to be aware of the basic principles for marketing and public relations in the cultural sector.

Course Description

The course focuses on public administration, administrative procedures and budgeting in the public and private sectors. It discusses themes concerning public relations and sponsorship in the cultural sector.

The main topics are:

The political/administrative system and decision-making processes at various administrative levels

Financial management and budgeting

Accounting and budgeting software

Cultural sponsorships

Contracts and reporting

Relevant national and international legislation

Marketing

Learning Methods

Lectures and seminars last 1-semester; assignments.

Assessment Methods

One obligatory assignment worth 40 % and one 5-hour individual written examination worth 60 % add up to the final grade. Graded marks. Students must attain a passing grade in the assignment and the final examination in order to pass the course.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
