Course Objectives

The course will show how remote measurement systems are used in many areas with data from satellites and aerial sensors. It will also examine the methods and theory, analysis and presentation of image data. The management of natural resources will also be emphasised.

Course Description

The course will provide a description of active and passive sensors, including microwaves (radar) and will examine the methods for the comparison of model-data from digital maps, aerial photographs, satellite imagery and other instruments of measurement. Automatic classification and visual interpretation of image information will be emphasised.

Learning Methods

6 - 7 timer lectures/exercises per week in the spring semester.

Assessment Methods

2 individual obligatory assignments which count for 40 % and a written 3-hour final examination which counts for 60 %. The obligatory assignments must be approved before students will be permitted to sit the final examination. Students must receive passing marks on all parts of the assessment.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
