Cybernetics - Project EE3107
Course Objectives
Students will gain an understanding about, and skills in the development of, PID regulation systems for physical and simulated processes, including methods for the development of discrete-time mathematical models from log data.
Course Description
Systems theory for discrete-time systems (PID controllers, signal filters, process simulators). Implementation of PC based PID control system, includingmeasurement filter for a physical process and for a simulator of that processfor testing purposes. The controller, filter and simulator will be developedfrom ground, but premade functions will be used too. Implementation of a PLCbased PID control system for a physical process.
Tools: PC with LabVIEW and I/O hardware. The Simatic PLC system with WinCC.
Learning Methods
Lectures. Practice. Self-study. Project work.
Assessment Methods
Individual written examination during the course, counting for 30% of the final grade. Project work with a common group grade which counts for 70% of the final grade. Both the written examination and the project work must receive passing marks in order to receive a higher grade than F.
