Specialisation in Sports Studies, fordypning
Target Group and Admission Requirements
The study programme may be taken as the third year in sports studies degree programmes. Applicants must therefore have successfully completed a one-year programme in Sport Studies or Physical Education 1 as their first year of study, and the Trainer Programme or equivalent as their second year of study.
Aim of the Programme
The study programme builds on the 9410 Trainer Programme, and provides further knowledge and additional specialisation within sports science topics that are relevant for the dissemination and understanding of a chosen specialisation sport. It is an aim of the programme that the relationship between theory and practice will provide more knowledge and better understanding of the sport specialisation, for the relationship between the sport specialisation and an elective theoretical module (sport physiology, sport pedagogy, or sport sociology), and increased knowledge and scientific understanding in this theoretical subject area.
Further Education opportunities
The programme builds on the one-year programme in Sport Studies or Physical Education 1, and the Trainer Programme, and may be taken as the third year of study in the Bachelor’s degree programme, Sports Science. The Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science serves as a basis for applying for the two-year Master’s-degree programme, Physical Education, Sport & Outdoor Life Studies.
Curriculum and structure
|
The specialisation sport is central to the study programme’s content; and in the context of the specialisation sport the student will choose a theoretical module which will provide the sport’s practical character with a theoretical framework that will contribute to increased understanding of the specialisation sport’s field of practice. The study programme’s content has thus a clear specialisation profile, related to both the theoretical and practical fields.
Teaching and Learning Methods
Some of the subject material will be presented in lectures. Through concretisation of the subject matter by relating it to the students’ own experiences, students will be stimulated and motivated to participate and discuss the study material. Students will to a great extent present subject material independently or in groups in seminars, where students’ experiences and reflections concerning the subject material will be discussed and reviewed.
Assessment Methods
The study programme includes the following forms of assessment: Dissertation, field diary relating to the sport specialisation and various written submissions and oral presentations relating to the elective theoretical modules.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
