Introduction to Social Education Work 060-E1
Course Objectives
After completing course 1 students will:
Knowledge
• be able to explain the frameworks, development and central concepts in social education work and education in a historical perspective and at present.
• be able to explain the concept of culture; provide examples of multicultural issues and can recognize their own cultural values and cultural practices.
• be able to explain the causal factors in relation to disability in general and developmental disability in particular.
Skills
• be able to use groups as a learning method in their studies
• be able to identify, test and assess their relationship skills and communicative actions
Competence
• have insight into the central social educational and professional ethical issues
• have an understanding of the idea of equality
Course Description
The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements regarding the distribution of credits, which functions as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.
Sociology and anthropology - 2 ECTS credits; Law - 1 ECTS credit; general, developmental and social psychology - 2 ECTS credits; medical and natural science topics - 3 ECTS credits; mental health - 1 ECTS credit; development of the discipline, ideology, ethics and professional roles - 6 ECTS credits; skills and behaviour learning - 2 ECTS credits; working with groups, organizations and networks - 1 ECTS credit; communication, interaction and conflict resolution - 2 ECTS credits.
Learning Methods
The course includes lectures, self-study, group work and presentations.
Assessment Methods
Course code: 060-E1: Social education work
A 6-hour examination based on the expected learning outcomes for the course. Individual assignment under supervision. Graded marks.
There can be as many as three course requirements, which must be approved before the completion of the course can be approved. The course requirements are described in the course plan.
Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
