Target Group and Admission Requirements

The target group is students with an interest in the information technology (IT). The study programme may be combined with, for example, economic and administrative subjects, natural sciences and environmental studies, and languages in a combination Bachelor’s degree. It may also be used as a supplementary programme for those who have a degree in teaching. It is also suitable for those who wish to improve their understanding and use of IT in the workplace. Applicants must meet general admission requirements or possess prior experiential learning, and 2MX, 2MY or 3MZ.

Aim of the Programme

The aim of the study programme is to provide students with a practical introduction to the main techniques, methods and tools used in IT.

Further Education opportunities

The programme qualifies for admission to the second year of the Bachelor's degree programme in Computer Science.

The nominal length of study of the foundation programme is one year, and it may be included in a bachelor’s degree. It is divided into courses that have a duration of one semester.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Lectures, practical exercises in the computer lab with supervision, small project assignments.

Theory and Practical Training

The study programme has a practical approach, but also focuses on basic theory in the field. Emphasis will be given to using relevant tools and practical examples in the teaching.

Assessment Methods

Letter grades A-F will be used (where F represents fail). The forms of assessment are described in the course descriptions.
