Land Surveying BY2006

Course Description

The course will provide a basic introduction to the land surveying profession. Topics of interest include the geodetic basis, survey instrument theory, altitudes, coordinate systems and coordinates, measuring in, laying out, maps and GPS.

Assessment Methods

The two examinations will count towards the course grade. The final examination must receive a passing mark. The instrument exercises do not count towards the grade, but are obligatory.

Overview of assessment elements:

  • 3 obligatory instrument exercises all of which must be approved.
  • Course component examination, 3 hours, 40%.
  • 3 obligatory instrument exercises, all of which must be approved.
  • Final examination, 4 hours, 60%, must receive a passing mark.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
