Estate Agency – Transitional Examination

Since autumn 2008 Telemark University College has organised a transitional examination for estate agency staff in line with FOR 23rd November 2007 no. 1282: Regulations concerning Transitional Rules in accordance with the Estate Agency Act of 29 June 2007. The curriculum for the transitional examination has been approved by the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Kredittilsynet). The University College also holds examinations for estate agent assistants, as well as settlement and accounting for estate agencies.
The transitional examination consists of four courses:
5250 EVU Practical Estate Agency I, 10 ECTS.
5256 EVU Settlement and Accounting for Estate Agencies, 10 ECTS

5251 EVU Law for Estate Agents II, 10 ECTS.
5257 EVU Law for Estate Agents III, 10 ECTS.

Examination for estate agent assistants:
5250 Practical Estate Agency I, 10 ECTS; please refer to the study plan below.

Settlement examination:
5256 Settlement and Accounting for Estate Agencies, 10 ECTS; please refer to the study plan below.

Applicants for the estate agent assistant and settlement examinations may use the same application form as for the transitional examination.

Transitional Examination applicants who pass the Transitional Examination, and who wish to apply to the Financial Supervisory Authority for permission to register as an authorised estate agent in accordance with the transitional regulations, must have at least three years practical experience in estate agency, with at least two years of experience during the five years prior to 1 January 2008.

Courses are held at the Porsgrunn campus. Each course is completed during 3-day workshops and a final examination. Students must expect a considerable amount of independent study.
