Learning outcome

After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved knowledge of:

  • how IT-based business systems can support and enhance corporate business.
  • how the Internet facilitates and enhances communication and collaboration with corporate partners externally, as well as how web-based forms of communication can improve efficiency internally.
  • how business strategy affects the development of IT our strategiesstrategies anc vice versa.
  • aspects of IT related to security, vulnerability and ethics.

The candidate will have achieved skills in:

  • developing long text documents using styles and templates,
  • developing spreadsheet models,
  • developing presentations.

Course Description

The theoretical part will include the following topics :

  • Big data, cloud computing and social media.
  • Various common business systems.
  • Strategic Use of information systems.
  • Technical aspects of information technology, such as hardware, software, databases, and data communications.
  • Data security, privacy and ethical issues related to information technology.

The practical part includes:

  • The use of styles and templates in text documents.
  • Spreadsheet models.
  • Presentations.

Teaching and Learning Methods

5 teacher-led hours a week with emphasis on student activity e.g. problem solving, assignments and exercises on personal computer. Students should expect to put down 8-10 hours of work per. week. Virtually all course material will be available from the college's e-learning platform in the form of documents and videos.

Assessment Methods

A 4-hour, individual, written examination.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
