Learning outcome

After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes:

The candidate:

  • Has gained an overview of the relevant real estate theory; see syllabus reading lists
  • Has gained an overview of the real estate broker’s role, duties and responsibilities.
  • Is able to apply the skills gained regarding tasks and responsibilities in relation to customers, the public and the public authorities in accordance with the current regulations for real estate brokerage.
  • Is able to conduct quality assurance of a broker service and use this with regards to reporting and controls to the Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA).
  • Can apply his/her knowledge of the discipline when organising a real estate brokerage firm.
  • Is able to assess a broker’s confidentiality and disclosure responsibility in relation to public departments.
  • Is able to assess what best broking practices and ethics involve in the execution of real estate brokerage.
  • Is able to gain an overview of and carry out a forced sale.
  • Has knowledge of the principle regulations of a real estate broker in real estate sales and housing construction law.
  • Has knowledge of real estate broker’s responsibilities and possible penalties related therto.

  • Organising a real estate broker firm
  • Competence requirements in a real estate agency
  • The Financial Supervisory Authority’s role and requirements in relation to real estate agents
  • Coordination with other government departments
  • Quality assurance of broker service - internal control and money laundering
  • Confidentiality and disclosure responsibility
  • Forced sales / administrator’s sale
  • Practical information concerning sales law
  • Practical information concerning Housing Construction Act
  • The real estate broker’s responsibility and possible sanctions
  • Organising a real estate broker
  • Competence requirements in a real estate agency

Teaching and Learning Methods

4-6 hours of lectures per week during the spring semester.

Exercises

There are opportunities to submit a written group assignment (not mandatory).

Assessment Methods

Written examination, 5 hours, which counts 100 %.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
