Learning outcome

Knowledge

The candidate:

  • Has an understanding of the structure and functions of the human body
  • Is familiar with complex and extensive functional disabilities in a life-cycle perspective
  • Has knowledge and understanding of crises and crisis management
  • Has knowledge of the legal regulation of activities within the health sector with particular emphasis on the Health Personnel Act and the Patient Rights Act

Skills

The candidate is able to:

  • Use professional principles in planning, execution and evaluation of habilitation and rehabilitation initiatives/social educational work

General competence

The candidate is able to:

  • Demonstrate insight into how physical and mental illnesses develop, are treated and prevented, on both an individual and a social basis
  • Demonstrate an understanding of professional health work as a vital aspect of the social educator’s skills
  • Respect and make use of the users’ experiences in social educational work

Course Description

The content of the course is based on the national curriculum’s requirements regarding the distribution of credits, which functions as a guideline for the clarification of the course plan.

Law - 2 ECTS; General, Developmental and Social Psychology - 1 ECTS; Medical and Natural Science Topics - 6 ECTS; Mental Health Work - 5 ECTS.

Teaching and Learning Methods

Self-study, lectures, group work, individual written work and skills training.

Assessment Methods

Course code: 060-E6: Foundation Knowledge for Health Professionals

A 5-hour individual examination (under supervision) based on foundation knowledge within the area of health care; graded marks.
There may be as many as three course requirements, which must be approved before the completion of the course can be approved. The course requirements are described in the course plan.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
