The candidate has knowledge of:

  • Social science theory, modernity concept, phenomenological and constructivist perspectives on outdoor life
  • Key social science concepts
  • Outdoor life, constancy and change, tradition and modernity
  • Outdoor life and gender
  • Key outdoor life policy issues and important actors
  • Goals, strategies, measures and instruments in relation to outdoor life organizations and the authorities
  • Outdoor life research
  • Historical perspectives on outdoor life
  • Outdoor life and the media

Skills

The candidate can explain:

  • Central social science perspectives on outdoor life
  • Key social science concepts
  • Outdoor life, tradition and modernity
  • Current perspectives on outdoor life policies, outdoor life history, outdoor life in the media, as well as outdoor life from a gender perspective

General competence

The candidate has:

  • An understanding of how the historical and cultural variations of outdoor life are developed through interaction with society
  • Gained insight into cultural and social science concepts, and understands how these may shed light on the practice and experiencing of outdoor life in relation to the individual and various social groupings
