Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes defined in terms of knowledge, skills and general competence.
The candidate:
- Has knowledge of key models, methods and techniques for the modification and development of information systems (IS) with an emphasis on agile methods
- Has skills in planning and implementing development of information systems
- Has an understanding of the factors affecting system development processes, such as legal and organisational aspects and technological development
- Is able to contribute to efficient organisation, implementation and improvement of system development processes
- Has an understanding of the characteristics of the various models and methods
- Has knowledge of how information systems can be used in organisations, and is familiar with important aspects of the work involved in evaluating, acquiring and developing computer-based information systems
Course Description
- Developing models for systems with an emphasis on agile methods
- System development process, process models, methods and techniques for system description, system specification, analysis, design of information systems (IS)
- Object-oriented and structured, analytical and experimental, traditional and contemporary models and methods for system development, maintenance and development of IS
- Visual modelling and best practices
- Strategy and development philosophy for system development
- Quality assurance, testing, validation, verification, estimation, risk
- Configuration management and documentation
- Architecture and information security
- Law and ethics in system development
- User participation, communications
- Introduction to case tools for system development
- Project work and the conditions for system development
Teaching and Learning Methods
3-4 hours of lectures, exercises and supervision per week.
Assessment Methods
- Written examination, 4 hours, graded mark
- Work requirements, mandatory assignments that must be approved in order for the student to take the written examination
