Learning outcome

The students will acquire:

  • skills in applying the programming language Java and the Android SDK for developing applications for mobile devices on the Android platform.
  • knowledge of some important general aspects of designing applications for mobile devices.

Course Description

  • The Android platform, SDK and development environment
  • Building user interfaces with Activities, Layouts, Views, Dialogs, Lists and Drawables
  • The Android menussystem
  • Internet based applications using Intents, Receivers, Filters and Adapters
  • Files, state and preferences
  • Databases and using cloud-based datasources
  • Applications using camera, GPS and other hardware devices

Teaching and Learning Methods

4-5 hours of lectures, exercises and guidance per week.

Assessment Methods

  • Practical assignment (submitted application), individual, graded, 100%
  • Work requirements, a number of obligatory assignments submitted during the course, approved/not approved.

Minor adjustments may occur during the academic year, subject to the decision of the Dean
