Learning outcome
After successfully completing the course, the candidate will have achieved the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge
The candidate has knowledge of:
- The cultural entrepreneur and the conditions that characterize the cultural field
- The appropriate strategies, methods and tools that are relevant for cultural entrepreneurship
- Information and communication in relation to actors and prospective partners
- The cultural field and the various businesses and agencies that are active the field
Skills
The candidate can:
- Relate to and develop appropriate networks and contacts in the cultural field
- Use project methodology in cultural projects
- Evaluate and develop their own cultural expressions in a cultural context
General competence
The candidate can:
- Demonstrate an understanding of how a cultural entrepreneur works, and is aware of the importance of networking and communication when operating in the field of culture
- Demonstrate an understanding of key project phases from concept to development of practical projects in the cultural field
- Analyse, evaluate and implement cultural projects in theoretical and practical contexts
Course Description
The course introduces key processes, conditions and features that characterize the work of the cultural entrepreneur. Work will be carried out to develop specific projects related to the field of culture, with a special focus on developing an understanding of how the various sectors within the field of culture operate. The course focuses on project methodology, theoretical evaluations and reflections, as well as implementation and testing in practice in close cooperation with the cultural field.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course is online-based and includes workshops as well as project work.
It comprises approx. 130 hours, including 50 teacher-led hours during the workshops, lectures and supervision.
- Workshops: approx. 8 hours
- Lectures: approx. 20 hours
- Seminars: approx. 7 hours
- Group work / individual work: approx. 80 hours
The course includes chat-rooms and net meetings, and students and teachers may post images, replies and other documents, as well as links to internet addresses. Students will be given instruction in use of the learning platform. Communication between students and the college will take place through e-mail and Fronter. Training, lectures / lecture notes will be given during the course of the semester. Participation in workshops / online meetings and course assignments are part of the compulsory course requirements. Responses to assignments will be submitted by specified deadlines for approval / comments. Students will form project groups in the study period, and the college will assist students for this purpose.
The course is characterized by alternation between practical creative work, theoretical orientation and reflection. The course emphasises cooperation with local cultural life, among other things, through a separate project where insight, understanding and participation in a cultural business or cultural organization is central.
Assessment Methods
The examination consists of an individual portfolio that includes selected coursework requirements with written / visual documentation and a written assignment. A graded mark from A-F will be entered on the diploma, where A represents the highest passing mark, and E the lowest.
