Learning outcome

Course Description
The course will provide the student with expertise within the following areas:
- Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign*
- Use of tools in drawing programmes: vector graphics, layer management, etc.
- Compositional principles in graphic design and illustration, design elements, layout, print, etc.
- Analysis of commercials, assessment and analysis of advertising images
- Typography: history, function, form, etc.
* This version will be available at the start of the studies. Students may use other versions / programmes, but instruction will not be given in these.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course is online-based and includes workshops.
It comprises approx. 400 hours, including 75-100 hours of workshops, lectures and supervision.
- Workshops: approx. 8 hours
- Lectures and supervision of assignments and skills in real time, approx. 70 hours
- Feedback on assignments in groups in real time: approx. 10 hours
- Individual instruction in the use of software; theoretical studies and responses to practical-aesthetic assignments: approx. 300 hours
The course includes chat-rooms and net meetings, and students and teachers may post images, replies and other documents, as well as links to internet addresses. Students will be given instruction in use of the learning platform. Communication between students and the college will take place through e-mail and Fronter. Training, lectures / lecture notes will be given during the course of the semester. Participation in workshops / online meetings and course assignments are part of the compulsory course requirements. Responses to assignments will be submitted by specified deadlines for approval / comments. Students are encouraged to form groups in the study period, and the college will assist students for this purpose.
The course is characterized by alternation between practical creative work, theoretical orientation and reflection.
Assessment Methods
Continual informal supervision and evaluation is part of the learning process and a means for the student to gain greater insight into their own academic requirements for further studies and future professional careers.
The course includes one individual assignment and one group assignment.
The course assignments must be given passing marks in order to be given a final passing mark for the course. The examination consists of an individual project assignment which will be assessed with a graded mark. A graded mark from A-F will be entered on the diploma, where A represents the highest passing mark, and E the lowest.
